Participating groups

 

Over the next 18 months River & Cloth will work with 18 community groups delivering a series of free creative workshops. Participants will gain hands-on experience in dyeing techniques, block printing and stitching, and the opportunity to create their own unique designs.   Groups we are currently working with include:

  • London South West Chinese Community Association
    LSWCCA promotes Chinese culture, arts and traditions by organising events to celebrate festivals. LSWCAA elders' group meets weekly for keep fit sessions, talks, socialising and lunch club. River & Cloth will deliver a workshop in eco-dyeing techniques to the elders group in July 2009.
  • Merton MENCAP Mencap is the voice of learning disability. Valuing and supporting people with a learning disability, and their families and carers.
  • South London Refugee Association Merton Asylum Welcome is a drop-in centre support to asylum seekers and refugees. They offer information and advice on housing, benefits, health care and education
  • Merton Sai Centre The centre of the Sathya Sai Service Organisation UK and meets regularly in the Temple for devotional singing and other spiritual activities. There is a Sunday Sai Spiritual Education school.
  • Merton and Morden Guild The Guild welcomes all older people regardless of race, colour, creed or disability. It offers a range of services for older people to enjoy together in a friendly and sociable group. Merton and Morden Guild encourage members to keep active and promote well being through fun activities.
