The River & Cloth Professional Development Programme teaches creative skills and knowledge of textile techniques and processes to teachers and project volunteers. We aim to pass on these skills in a way which enables them to be sustainable and shared around communities based in Merton. We will train up to 30 Merton school teachers in a variety of dyeing, stitching and printing techniques and provide them with resources, workshop plans, fact sheets and materials so that they will be able to deliver their own creative textile workshops in class. Likewise, we will train up to 30 volunteers in these techniques and encourage them to deliver workshops within their own community or locale. Please see teacher training and volunteer training sections for further information.
